USE OF PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) FOR PHYTOSANITARY TREATMENTS
USE OF PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) FOR PHYTOSANITARY TREATMENTS

Cotton cultivation requires phytosanitary treatments to ensure good yield and satisfactory income for producers.

In order to reduce the risk of poisoning, producers were trained by IVOIRE COTON agricultural advisors to wear appropriate clothing during the phytosanitary treatment operation, namely : long-sleeved shirt, glove, pants, boots, nose cover and glasses.

Despite this, many producers continued to use inappropriate clothing.

To resolve this, since the 2022/2023 campaign, IVOIRE COTON has undertaken to equip producers with PPE kits under advantageous and flexible sales conditions. In 2022, 500 kits were made available to producers by the mean of their groups.

This was possible thanks to a supplier who lowered his prices compared to previous campaigns. The materials used are also now better suited (woven cotton instead of white nylon outfits) which is more comfortable for users.

For this 2023/2024 campaign, awareness raising continues as well as the operation to provide 600 PPE kits to producers. IVOIRE COTON is delighted that producers are showing more and more interest in this equipment.
